Cruising Near St Vincent? Check Out These Shore Excursions

In this trip you will be taken to the sea along the west coast of St. Vincent across bat caves, dramatic beaches and brown booby birds to the destination which is the movie set of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Further ahead, you get to watch the dolphins and whales. The last spot is the black sand beaches which supposedly have great healing properties due to their mineral content.

Highlights of St. Vincent Island

The excursion starts with a drive to the garrison built by the British in 1806, Fort Charlotte. Today, it represents the cultural identity, displaying a collection of local paintings that depict the Caribbean Indians’ history. You also get a view of the capital of Kingstown and Northern Grenadines. Other places of interest include the Botanical Gardens that was opened in 1765 and the leafy Mesopotamia Valley.

Sail to Pirates of the Caribbean Movie Site

The volcanic activity in St. Vincent has made the valleys fertile and lush and the beaches rich in black sands. In addition, the twisting corals that circle the island provide an ideal habitat for a variety of marine life. The tour starts with a boat ride along the coast and the first stop is at a world-class dive site. The second stage of the visit is the hideaway cove wherein the movie Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed.

Gardens of St. Vincent

The tour starts off with a drive through the historical Kingstown. You can see the Cenotaph on the way. Cenotaph is a memorial built in honor of the brave Vincentians who gave away their lives in the World War I. Then you visit the Botanical Garden built in 1765 which is home to the endangered Amazona Guildingii, the national bird of the island. Another place of tourist interest in the island is the Montreal Gardens.

Bequia by Catamaran

This tour is all about beaches, breathtaking scenery and boutiques. You will take off from Kingstown Harbor on a catamaran to the Bequia Channel. At the first stop at Moonhole, you can see Flintstone-style community houses which are carved into rocks. The tour also includes a visit to Port Elizabeth on Bequia Island and Princess Margaret Beach.

Snorkel and Kayak Adventure

If you want to explore the coastline of St. Vincent, this is the tour that you must take. You will be given a safety briefing and you can go kayaking from Buccament Bay with your guide to the famous Bat Cave. You will also visit the hideaway cove, the real tropical oasis, which was used as the backdrop for the movie The Pirates of the Caribbean. As part of the tour, you will also get to explore the colorful reef when you stop for snorkeling.

Mustique Magic

Among the Grenadine Islands, the most famous is the picturesque isle of Mustique with its white sand beaches. You will start sailing from Kingston and arrive at Mustique.
